We have had more than a decade of 4th of July fireworks parties, but none have compared to this year’s fireworks display. Hat’s off to Alan Haynes for procuring the people who provide the show. Look for the 4th of July photo gallery soon on the website and you will see some great photos of the fireworks.
The watermelon contest is a favorite. Kids love it, and Dorothy and Alan Haynes enjoy orchestrating it. Top winner this year was Angee and Dave Simmons daughter. We enjoyed the “oldies” music performed by Twin Lake’s resident Allen Dale and his Twin Lakes Drifters. This year we didn’t have a cookout; instead residents brought deserts and home ice cream. There were lots of red, white and blue worn, and top honors go to John Scholl and his flag shirt.
It was a beautiful evening and a great location to watch the fireworks out over the big lake. If you missed it this year, be sure not to miss it next year.
